This was a fabulous trip. If you like wilderness, few people and terrific views, this is a trip for you. Here are a few stats.      15206 km travelled. 111 Days on the road. 48 Campgrounds.  $ 5191.41 Fuel cost $ 444.05 Propane  $ 3133.77 Camping fees. $ . 84 per kilometre   Animals sighted: Deer 32 Fox 1 Sheep 31 Elk 7 Bear 22 Porcupine 2 Moose 4 Bison 29 Most of these animals were seen in northern BC and the Yukon, only a few in Alaska. Funny thing is the morning after we got home, these guys showed up. There were two about the same size. Saw this guy yesterday and again today. There was also a doe hanging around. As if to say, you didn't need to go all the way up north to see wild life. This wraps up the shenanigans for this year.

Fintry Spectrum Aug 16th Aug 22nd

Knowing Ryan and Family would not show up till seven or so, we had supper waiting for them when they srrived. Shrimp Taco kit from Costco, yum.  Next day they pumped up the inflatable paddle board and headed down to the lake. It is a very short walk from the campsite to the lake. Quinn got a lot of time on her mother's birthday present. lol. We had a great time just hanging around going down to the water.  Quinn as pretty as ever. Our campsite, this is one of Jack's favourites. Our time there came to an end, Monday morning we headed down toward the Hope Princeton Hwy, one of my favourite roads. We stopped in Keremeos for fruit and veggies.  Next stop, was Picard Rec Site. Patti and Bruce like this site, so we thought we would give it a try. It is just past Hedley; it did not disappoint. A lot of Rec Sites are too small for us but there were a few sites we fit. A couple of shots of the creek and our trailer from the creek. We arrived at Spectrum on Tuesday, the plan ...

Grand Forks Fintry. Aug. 11th - 16th

Image
It is only an hours drive from Kettle River PP to Grand Forks. We stopped at the grocery store to stock up before heading to Patti and Bruce's place. Once we were parked, we all sat under the trees and enjoyed the shade. It was around 30+ degs with a light breeze, very nice. We did little else, other than enjoying the company for the next two days. Pat and Patti did make forty Burritos to put in the freezer. We had them for supper, just to make sure they were eatable. They were awesome, big enough to split for two, with a little salad.  On Aug 14th, we drove back up Hwy 33 to Kelowna then Vernon and around to Fintry. You can go across the bridge at Kelowna and drive up the west side of the lake but with the shear cliffs edge down on Pat's side, we went the long way. I will go out that way, not so bad cuz the mountain is on the correct side.😁 Next day we did the loop around the lake, stopping at Costco, Safeway, propane, fuel and the liquor store. There was a Chilliwack corn ...

Paul Lake - Kettle River Rec Site Aug. 5th - Aug. 10th

Image
It is a nice drive from Lac La Hache to Paul Lake through hwy 24. Mostly we had our pick of sites, found one we liked and got set up. It was nice and warm, about 30deg, lots of solar for power. The trees are just high enough to give shade around the edges of the campsite. Just sat and read for the rest of the day. Tuesday, we went to Debbie's for lunch. Doug and Linda, from Whitehorse, were in town to pick up a new puppy from Pritchard. They were staying for most of the week. Phil, Sue and their grandson Jake, were there, they love the pool. Rob and Roberta from Salmon Arm dropped in as well. It was great to see everybody. After lunch, we went to Costco for propane and to resupply. Then Save On and back to camp.  Wednesday, we just hung around and basked in the sun. After we went in, we heard a crashing in the bush. No, not a bear, this guy. Didn't seem to mind getting his picture taken. He was chowing down on Saskatoon Berries. Had we been a week earlier, I would have picked...

Lac La Hache July 31st - Aug 4th

Image
We arrived at Lac La Hache PP fairly early  so we had our pick of campsites, found one we liked and got set up. There are lots of big trees in the campground but spread out enough that you get lots of light. Our solar panels did not like the shade as much as we did, as it is finally hot in the afternoon. I have had to run the generator for two mornings now, the first time in three months.  Thursday, we went back to Williams Lake to do laundry, shopping and wash the truck, poor thing was filthy. Last time it got a hose down was Dawson City, I had to wash off the mud from the construction near Moose Creek.  Friday we went down to 100 Mile House and checked out the local Aero Clubs field. I took these pictures from just inside the gate, there was no one there. Look out for that power line, I am sure it has been hit a few times. We then went to check out Green lake, nice drive but not much to photograph. Or I am getting lazy.  Saturday we drove to Mahood Lake. I d...

Quesnel July 29th - 30th

Image
Ten Mile Lake PP is just north of Quesnel, we had stayed there on a previous trip. This is the only campground Pat could not recall, so we had to come back. Of coarse, it all came back to her as we drove down the entrance road. I haven't mentioned that most of these campgrounds have very few people in the  campground when we get there around one PM or so. This one was no exception. We found a nice spot and set up camp. Next day we went to Quesnel to check out the town. We have never stopped here all the times we have driven though. It is kind of spread out but not a bad town, they have everything you could want.  As it was Pat's birthday, she got to pick the place for lunch. Greek it was, souvlaki for her and baked spaghetti for me, both were very good. After lunch, we shopped around a bit and went back to camp. Next up Lac La Hache PP. Our route for the past few days. We will be in Lac La Hache till Mon. With the long weekend coming up, we did not want to take a chance...

Tudyah Lake. July 27th - 28th

Image
It is less than a two hour drive from Moberly PP to Tudyah Lake PP. This is the strangest setup of all the campgrounds we have been at. No defined spots, just big grassy areas, with shrubs and trees around and picnic tables with fire rings. We found a nice spot and set up camp. After we set up, we drove down to McLeod Lake, it is a kilometre or so off the highway. Nice little town, not much there. After checking out Whiskers Point PP., which was full, we headed back to camp.  The turn off to Mackenzie is ten kilometres back up the road, then another thirty six k to the town site. This is a very nice small town, we are so glad we decided to make a trip here. We found a road that followed the lake and found this park on Williston  Lake.   Alexander Mackenzie, some info on him. Back to Mackenzie to look for lunch. From the road I spotted a bunch of chairs that looked like they were on an outside deck. After driving around the mall, we came to It was small, maybe eight ...
