Soldotna Homer July 6th - July 8th
It rained the night before we left Whittier, luckily for me it was very light as I hooked up the trailer. There is no RV dump in Whittier that we could find, we did find one on our way to Soldotna. We chose Swiftwater Municipal RV Pk for our stay here. $23 a night, fire pit, picnic table and garbage. They do have a dump but they want $20 to use it, on top of our camping fees so we will go back to the one we found on our way here at Quartz Creek SP.
Now, they say you get smarter as you get older, I don't know about that. We were handed a map of the town when we checked in and there was a meat market not too far away. Lets go take a look and see if we can find something different. I found some beef sticks, then we looked at the meat counter. There were these beef roll ups that looked good, meat, cheese and spinach, yum. I bought two and the beef sticks and handed over my credit card. We get back in the truck and Pat looks at the bill, $65 Can, guess I should have asked the price first, ouch. They had better be good - they weren't. At least they were big enough to get two meal out of them. I have not tried the beef sticks yet.
Another sunny day, we are off to Homer. As you can see on the map, the road goes down the coast of Cook Inlet. There are some good view points long the road.
Mt Redoubt
Mt. SpurThere is an overlook just before Homer, this is the famous Spit.It is five miles long and was formed from a glacier. There are hundreds of sardine RV sites and tourist businesses. We did find a parking spot but found nothing we wanted. Very busy, so we decided to look for lunch elsewhere. We had lunch at the Otter, in a Best Western, the best Rubin I have had, Pat had the beef dip. There was enough food for two meals, a win. The waitress told us that last year they only had two days of sun. We have been very lucky with the weather. No warmer than about 15C but sunny, for the most part.
Yesterday we went to Kenai, these are from a little park north of town. This is a drill rig, I cropped a lot on the computer. Original and zoomed
Homer is our turnaround point and we will now start slowly heading home

What a trip! Thanks for all the updates!
