Muncho Lake, Summit Lake and Fort Nelson July 18th to 21st

Well, that didn't work out, we got to the campground (MacDonald at Muncho Lake) and there was a campground full sign. It was early, so we thought maybe they hadn't taken the sign down from last night, nope it was full. Just down the road is Strawberry Flats, nope campground full. About another hour and a half, there is Stone Mountain PP, we will try there. On the way we came across these guys. Notice how the adults move to protect their lambs.

As we came around the corner to look down Summit Lake, we could see the campground and it looked full. Darn, oh well, lets go check it out. When we got to the turn off, there was no campground full sign, a good sign. We turned into the left loop and there was only one other camper there. We found a nice site and set up. After having something to eat, we went for a walk around the park. If we had turned left, instead of right, we could have camped right on the lake. Oh well, our site was nice.

Here is a photo of Stone Mountain when we first got there.

It is more impressive than the photo shows. The same photo later when the smoke rolled in.
Next morning.
A couple of random shots around the campground.

I was going to take a hike across the bridge but it was a little hard to get to.

From there we headed to Ft. Nelson, it was just over an hour drive. Got set up in Triple G, and headed into town. Lunch was first on the agenda, Boston Pizza. I had Shrimp Tacos, Pat had a Burrito Bowl, pretty good. We wanted to stock up on a few groceries so I dropped her off and went to fuel up. Came back and parked forty feet from the entrance, straight out from the building. Out she comes and turns to her right, where is she going? There is another white truck parked four cars down. I guess she figured it out when the guy gave her a funny look and wouldn't open the door for her. Don't know what was on her mind. Could have been the good food, the smoke, the heat or it was starting to get warm. It was very entertaining though.

Next stop, Bucking Horse River PP.
