Whitehorse to Carmacks June 12th - 14th

Hopefully you can see Braeburn on the map, world famous Cinnamon Buns. We stop, I go in and ask where are the cinnamon buns? The gal says, sorry our oven is broken, Nooooo, oh well, I didn't need one anyway. Braeburn is also the home of a herd of Elk, they were introduced in the fifties for hunting purposes. The local farmers then and now are not impressed.
Next stop was Tatchun Creek TP. We unhooked and went back to Carmacks. Found the very nice visitor centre, this was in mid afternoon and we were the guy's fourth visitors. He said it was a great job but a little boring. Carmacks is very small but there is a general store with about everything.
On our way back to the campsite we stopped at the Five Finger Jack overlook.

Tatchun Creek from the campground.

If you look closely at the map, there is a road that goes from the Tatchun Creek around the lakes and comes out where it says Little Salmon. It is the Frenchmen Creek Rd. Mostly good gravel with some pot holes thrown in. More very nice campgrounds on pretty lakes.

The Frenchman Lk. Rd comes out on Hwy. 4 that goes to Watson Lk. or it travels along the Yukon river to Carmacks.

The weather has improved, so we spent another day here to just hang around and do a few small chores. Mid afternoon a few thunder clouds rolled in, so we went inside to read etc. Usually around now, Jack is sitting on one of our laps, better check his hidey hole in the closet. Nope not there, so I check the back of the truck, nope not here, I check in the truck, nope not there. Ok, maybe I missed him in the closet, Pat says " Is he in the storage compartment in the back of the trailer?" I open the door and out jumps Jack, not all that concerned about being locked up for over four hours. He did not learn his lesson, as he climbed into the kitchen cupboard when Pat was doing the dishes.

Next up Moose Creek, just past Stewart Crossing.
