Dawson June 17th 19th

It took us about two hours to get to Dawson City from Moose Creek campground. There is a gravel section that had the worst dust I have ever seen. At one point, I almost had to come to a stop to see the road. Worse than any fog I have ever been in. This picture doesn't even come close to the amount of dust but you get the idea.

It just hung there, in huge big clouds, no wind at all. Funny thing was, there was not much traffic.

Once we found a campground and got set up in Dawson City, we drove up Dome Rd. There is a view point that looks over the town.

The first photo is as you are coming into town, it would be to your left of the lower photo.

Our trailer is in the centre of the photo. That would be in the first photo.

Tourists are always getting in the way.
I had a very nice birthday lunch here, Triple J's.
The town is trying to keep with the Gold Rush theme. Some pictures from around town.

A few building are not in the best of shape.
This will explain the above photo.

This steamboat, Keno, was used on the Stewart River. It is smaller and has a shallower draft to accommodate the shallower Stewart river.

The population of the Yukon is about 45,600, 35,000 live in Whitehorse. The Yukon is about half the size of BC, the lower Sunshine Coast a speck on the BC map. The lower Sunshine coast has approximately 35.000.
The sun sets here at 12:50 am and rises at 3:47 am; it does not get dark here right now.

Tomorrow we are off to Alaska, over the Top Of The World hwy. I understand that it will be a lot of gravel, turns and up and down, should be fun. From here, we cross the Yukon River on a small ferry, free, I might add. Although the time says 2hr 23 min., there is the ferry and then customs. Also a time change.
Hopefully there will be a campsite around Chicken for us when we get there,
As always, there may be limited or no cell service, so I will post when I can.
